FAQ
1.1 What is tool offset in CNC milling?
CNC machines must be programmed to allow offsets for the diameter and length of the tool to cut the part. By knowing the exact tool offsets a machinist can find the precise machining starting point.
1.2 What is the difference between CNC turning and CNC milling?
The CNC milling process involves a rotating tool that carves away excess material from a stationary workpiece.
CNC turning uses a rotating workpiece, typically used to make cylindrical parts.
1.3 What is the difference between a CNC router and a CNC mill?
A CNC router moves the spindle around a stationary table and is primarily designed to operate at high speeds.
A CNC mill typically moves the workpiece along a linear axis, making cuts through the driving force of rotational speed.
1.4 What is 5-axis CNC machining?
A 5-axis CNC milling machine can move a cutting tool in 5 axes, which allows the operator to simultaneously hit five different sides (or more) of a part depending on the design complexities.
Resultantly, the tool is highly capable of creating highly complex products and parts.
With a 5-axis machine, the X, Y, and Z-axes are similar to a 3-axis machine layout. The table then rotates along the A-axis, as it does with the 4-axis.
However, the 5-axis machine involves the pivoting action at the joint of the table, followed by rotation along the C-axis, which defines the fifth movement.
1.5 Do you vapor polish ABS or other plastics?
We do not vapor polish ABS, we only vapor polish Polycarbonate and manual polish Acrylic.
1.6 What minimum thickness can be included in the design to prevent warping?
In general, we recommend a minimum wall thickness of 0.5mm for metals and 1mm for plastics. This does not mean that smaller wall thickness values cannot be achieved.
These recommendations are merely thresholds to limit the risk of warpage. These values depend greatly on the actual size of the part
1.7 What size of fillets are added when no specific fillet is specified by the 3D model or drawing?
If a specific fillet radius is required, please specify. If not, the fillet radii that allow for easy machining will be added based on our engineer discretion.
For a general idea, internal vertical edge radii could be >1/3*Depth and internal horizontal edges may be left sharp or have a 0.5mm to 1mm radius.
2.1 What’s standard accuracy in vacuum casting?
Standard tolerance on ±0.15mm/100mm, with the highest precision able to reach ±0.05 mm.
2.2 What’s maximum part dimensions in vacuum casting?
The vacuum equipment can hold 2.0M*1.2M*1.0M mold specifications.
2.3 What’s minimum wall thickness in vacuum casting?
The minimum wall thickness is 0.5mm, the best is 1.5mm~2.5mm to ensure the mold is filled properly.
2.4 What’s the Lifetime of the silicone mold in vacuum casting?
Typical quantities up to 20-25 copies per mold. If the part requires high quality such as clear or complex structures, in typical quantities one mold can only make 12 or even 10 casting parts.
2.5 What’s the standard lead time in vacuum casting?
Up to 50 copies can be produced in 8 to 12 days, depending on the mold’s complexity and volumes.
2.6 What surface textures and other functions can you do?
We can make colored, textured, painted, coated, clear polished surface textures and insert and over-molding parts.
3.1What is the tolerance on 3D printed prototype parts?
Our quoted tolerance on 3D printed parts is ±0.5mm though this is influenced by part geometry, 3D printing technology, material and build orientation.
If you need tighter tolerances on particular features, please contact us and we will do whatever we can to help.
3.2What is the smallest feature that can be 3D printed?
Generally speaking, features smaller than 0.6mm will not form, though there is some variation between 3D printing technologies.
If your part has a feature smaller than 1mm, talk to us before requesting a quote, as we will need to interrogate the part file to determine the best build orientation.
4.1 Do you inspect the parts?
All parts are inspected visually after made and, again, after finishing. In addition, key dimensions are checked with callipers and micrometers.
If required, we can inspect parts using our co-ordinate measuring machine and produce detailed inspection reports.
4.2 How can I get a quotation?
A.Please kindly send us 3D drawings with Step, IGS, X_T format and 2D drawing by emial.
B.Please tell us your requirement on Materials & Application, Surface Finishing, Quantity, Pantone Color and other requirements, such as Packing, Shipping and so on.
4.3 What’s your delivery time?
It depends on quantity and technology. Usually we can finish the parts within 3 -15 days after order confirmation.
4.4 How can I know the status of my order?
We will keep you closely informed production process and ensure that all problems are solved.
QC report and the products picture will be sent to you by E-mail before shipment.
4.5 How do you pack the goods?
We have 18 years experience on export, finished products will be carefully handled by three steps:
1): Wrapped with packing paper;
2): Packaged with PE foam;
3): Put in an appropriate carton box or wooden boxes and be fixed firmly.
4.6 What’s your MOQ ?
Our MOQ is 1pc.
4.7 What’s your payment terms?
our payment terms is T/T or L/C or Western Union.
